The Southland Reactivation Act provides a tax abatement incentive to property developers who purchase tax-exempt commercial or industrial property within Bloom, Bremen, Calumet, Rich, Thornton or Worth Townships in Cook County.

SSMMA is committed to empowering the South Suburbs by providing state of the art geospatial technology and data management to support data-driven solutions and services for a smarter, safer, and more economically vibrant future.

Bus Interior

SSMMA distributes Federal STP funds and offers technical assistance to member communities to increase and improve transportation options for all users, and to enhance livability and sustainability throughout the South Suburbs.

Justice Scale

SSMMA works with the local, state, and federal lawmakers to secure resources, spur investment, rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, and accelerate transformational inclusive economic growth in the South Suburbs.

SSMMA and its partner organizations, Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation and South Suburban Economic Growth Initiative, support south suburban business small and large, attracting and retaining companies that create jobs and grow the local economy.

SSMMA, along with local communities and institutional partners, formed the Chicago Southland Housing and Community Development Collaborative, and developed a nationally recognized approach to addressing local and regional housing issues through cross-border collaboration.

ABOUT

Located south of the City of Chicago, the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) is an intergovernmental agency providing technical assistance and joint services to 45 municipalities representing a population of nearly 750,000 in Cook and Will Counties. SSMMA members work cooperatively on transportation, legislation, land use, economic development, recycling, purchasing, stormwater and open space planning, infrastructure, human resources, public safety and housing issues.
